ESCAPE ROOMS

While Escape Rooms are a popular trend in major cities globally, research on best practices in education and the administration of the game is still emerging. The first documented Escape Room for entertainment took place in Kyoto, Japan in 2007. The Escape Room trend grew in Asia in 201-2013, spread to Europe and has begun to catch on in Australia, Canada and the United States in the last two years. The following is a list of the articles on Escape Rooms in the popular press.

In Singapore last year, the annual E-Generation Challenge, an environmental outreach initiative for youths to foster eco-consciousness held a Escape Room where participants had to escape an impending climate disaster. “This included logic puzzles, riddles and tasks about deforestation, biodiversity, recycling, pollution and waste.”  (Business Times, 2014)
