WHY ESCAPE ROOMS?
In a world of maker faires, augmented and alternative reality games, and other technologies, a simple idea is now starting to capture the imagination of the public and our students. Escape rooms are a simple concept that can become as complex as the designer wants. Each escape room follows the same pattern, you are in a room with a group of people and you all need to get out within a predetermined time period. The group can only use the resources inside the room, however, they can use any technology they bring with them to help them solve the various puzzles and problems presented to them.

Using the escape room concept allows educators to frame subjects in a fun, playful yet challenging activity where students are required to utilize problem solving skills, self-directed learning, collaboration skills and intrinsic motivation to win. This project based learning will introduce participants to escape rooms, have them their own rooms, and how to align their themes and escape rooms with the standards they use in their classroom.
