Student LEarning Guide
Differention
The two main areas where student choice allows for differentiation is individually in the creation of the Escape Room and in the group decisions on the Teaching with Purpose multimedia display.
In creating the Escape Room, the individual learner can choose any theme, any objects and create any puzzles or clues that they choose as long as they align it to their content area and the Teaching with Purpose rubric.
For the Teaching with Purpose display as a group students can choose to communicate with their audience in any format they choose.
Extension for Motivated Learners
Learners who are motivated to do more can do all or part of the following extension once they have identified to the instructor that they wish to purse a bonus opportunity:
1) Add a press release to their Escape Room Instructor Guide Website
2) Record a video of participants doing the escape room once they have obtained release form signatures from all participants.
3) Record their prop shopping at a Thrift Shop, Flea Market or in an actual prop shop.
Supplemental and Remediation Support
During instructor weekly office hours, students will be able to drop in to discuss Escape Room creation and technology tools.
Weekend Meetups to local thrift shops and flea markets will be offered during the project to help students find props and discuss Maker material.
Special Services
The instructor will ensure that all documents for the course will be created using the college's ADA Compliance policy. All video and audio will be transcripted. The instructors will also provide all accommodations advised and identified by the college's Office of Disability Services.
