TPACK
Technology is always in a state of flux. So the technology listed below may be replaced at any time with new options.
The TPACK model was used to decide which tools would be chosen and emphasized in the course. Tools were chosen to met the interplay of content knowledge (CK), pedagogical knowledge (PK) and technology knowledge (TK).
Google documents and Google slides were chosen as foundational technology for learners starting to integrate technology into their classroom. In using these tools learners start to understand fast-paced collaboration can happen over the Internet. The four different types of websites will be used for both the public website and also for the reflection blog. All have similar elements so each is accessible to students and support the pedagogical strategy that meets the outcomes of the Great Escape project. The storyboarding tools are specific to the content of video production. Using the storyboard tools lets the learner see how the creation of the video is changed and even changed by that technology. Voicethread and the YouTube channel as tools are also aligned to the content and practice. The storyboarding tools and Voicethread are tools that match up with the higher levels of transformative teaching. Storyboarding whether in a game or a video highlights critical thinking about the process. It helps develop learners who can independently look at the flow of their game, video or story. Videothread also has this capability. By choosing one image or a short clip of a video students become more aware of each component of their own work. These tools help develop reflective, self-critical learners as well a higher-order thinking and effective communication skills.
